Job Description

Cloud 9 Brewery is looking for a creative and proficient chef who is responsible for all aspects of food preparation. You will be "the chef" and maintain complete control of the kitchen! The ability to work closely with the owners, while remaining true to our organic and sustainable vision is a must for this position. From the quality of the beer and food, to the atmosphere of the dining area and bar and especially the service they receive, a guest’s impression of the brewery begins as soon as they walk through the door. Their experience must be excellent. Our ideal Chef will have a strong sense of ownership, and a true passion for creative and delicious cuisine. Supervisory experience will be needed, as well as menu-creation, cost estimates, equipment knowledge, sanitation and safety, and administrative experience. The Chef is the last one to see the plates before they exit the kitchen, so an eye for detail and a great palatte are required. Quality and consistency are keys to a successful restaurant, and our Chef will be an exemplar of both.

Typical Activities

Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities Create and modify menus, in accordance with company standards Supervise kitchen staff Maintain a positive and professional approach with team members and guests All other day to day activities necessary to keep the kitchen running The Chef will report to Cloud 9 Managers and Owners.

Required Skills

ServSafe Certification required 2+ years experience as a chef in a 50+ seat restaurant Excellent record of kitchen management Knowledge about plating and presentation 4 year degree in Culinary Science or related field, or appropriate substitute work experience Work days, nights or weekends, as required Ability to multi-task in a noisy and fast-paced, distraction-filled environment Move about facility and stand for 100% of shift Bend, reach, mop, wipe and stoop while performing duties Adhere to sanitization procedures Read and write handwritten notes Lift and carry up to 55 pounds Dress per requirements, looking neat, clean and professional at all times Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English
